Hello everyone. I am Shane Taas, the Activities Officer at Langports Gold Coast campus.
The Christmas holidays is a wonderful time of the year where families come together to celebrate this joyous occasion. It’s an exciting time as my family traditionally shares a massive feast with guests reflecting on the past year and looking forward to the future.
As we say goodbye to 2015 and hello to 2016, here is a list of 5 activities you can do over the Christmas/New Year’s Break:
-
Christmas Lights Tour
If you are in homestay, talk to your parents about arranging a Christmas Lights
Tour across your city. Hundreds of homes are lit up over Christmas and are decorated with brilliant lights and stunning displays.
-
Boxing Day Shopping
Starting on December 26, many major retailers across Australia will be having sales on their products. If you are looking for a bargain, head out to your nearest shopping centre. Be sure to plan your day as you will be competing with other shoppers looking to scoop up the good deals.
-
Beach
There’s nothing better than lying down on the beach, relaxing with mates, go for a surf or play some beach sports while enjoying the warm summer sun.
-
Movies
The summer also brings out rain and storms, so if you are looking to stay dry or want to stay cool over the Christmas break, the cinemas are a great place to catch up on your big blockbuster movies. Check your local cinema for sessions and movie times.
-
New Year’s Eve Fireworks
The perfect night to celebrate December 31 is watching the New Year’s Eve Fireworks. In Brisbane, the backdrop of the Story Bridge and Southbank is a must see. On the Gold Coast, the beaches will light up the night’s sky. However nothing will compare Sydney and the magnificent setting of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.
