Life is always so busy but once in a while it is nice to stop and give someone some help. That’s what our Langports students do every three months. They volunteer after school to help The Langports Foundation pack Yalari’s quarterly newsletters into envelopes.
Imagine how long it would take for one person to put 3500 address labels on envelopes and then insert a newsletter. It takes 100 happy Langports students just 20 minutes! This is a very simple way that volunteering can make a difference.
The Langports Foundation has sponsored Yalari scholars since 2010.
What is Yalari you may well ask? Yalari is a not-for-profit organisation that offers quality, secondary education scholarships at leading Australian boarding schools for Indigenous children from regional, rural and remote communities.
The Langports Foundation has sponsored Yalari scholars since 2010. The idea is to give Indigenous children from the remote and country areas an excellent school and huge support to finish High School and hopefully continue onto further education. These children give their families and communities positive role models who show that gaining an education gives them more life choices. Yalari hopes that their graduating students will become leaders in their communities.
Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.
At Langports we are proud that our students are part of our journey to help others. Part of Langports’ profit goes to The Langports Foundation to support Yalari. So just by being a Langports student YOU are already making a difference!
Also during the year each school, (Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sydney) hold fundraising events and The Langports Foundation donates money raised to various projects. So thank you to everyone who has helped out in the past. YOU all make a difference!
